Have you heard the saying “Everything’s bigger in Texas”? Let the facts speak for themselves. Texas has nearly 26.5 million people. That’s 8.4% of the U.S. population. The majority of the population is concentrated around cities like Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, and Austin. Texas controls a major portion of the U.S. economy with its total gross domestic product reaching $1.43 trillion. If the lone star state was a country, it would be rated 13th, having the highest GDP in the world. Texans consume a lot of catfish, some 109 million pounds per year to be exact. The total weight of the catfish is more than the weight of 6.5 Eiffel Towers. Are the discounts that the seniors get, big? Well, let’s say they help.
There are lots of different discounts that are available out there, I would ask which ones they offer. For example, are there senior discounts (for ages 50 – 65+), Military/Veteran discounts. How about AARP member discounts. They’re all not the same either. You may also qualify for more than one discount. A person could be 65 years old who’s a veteran that is an AARP card member. The restaurant may offer larger discounts for Military/Veteran than the normal senior discount they offer.
Just because a business says that they offer a discount, it doesn’t mean that it is available at all the locations. Most of these are independently owned and operated, so they don’t have to honor the discount. Make sure you call ahead and ask them before you go all the way there. I get it, 10 or 15% doesn’t seem like much and it’s not worth your time. Look at it this way, that discount just paid for the taxes and part of the tip.
BOGO’s (buy one get one free) are the way to go. If you can find a buy one, get one 50% off, those are good too. These offers are better than the normal 10% or 15% discount you can normally get.
